a new carb should be factory set for your bike so shouldn't need adjusting, check that the throttle cable isn't too tight, screw the adjuster into the top of carb to give free play of about 3-5mm at the twistgrip, if thats no good turn the slotted screw thats on the side of carb anti-clockwise 1/4 turn at a time (its the one central to carb body) and see if that slows the tickover, good luck.
