engine cut-out?

my 2.2 (p12) diesel engine cuts out, when trying to re-start all dash lights/radio etc come on but ignition is completely dead if left with ignition off it seems to reset itself and after a varying time laps, (sometimes 30 mins) the ignition will come back on and engine restarts, but the fault keeps recurring, can anybody help !!!
