while fitting a new ceiling light i am a bit confused why there are 4 red wires and no other colours, 3 red wires are joined together and 1 is on its own, and i am suppose to link these to the new light....confused???
The single wire will be the feed from the switch and the 3 joined together will be the N wires. Do not loosen the 3 reds from each other. If this happened you need a neon tester to determined the feed from the switch again. Switch of all light switches before you begin to avoid back feed from N wires. The testing will be done with the power ON and have someone switch the switch on and off. DO NOT MAKE A MISTAKE!

Check the switch to see if there are 2 red wires, or look closely to see if one of the red wires is in fact a red sleeve or red tape on a black wire.
email me for a diagram of what you should have if you wish.
