Mend Amish Heat Surge 600 Just Plugged

Our Amish Heat Surge Fireplace just beeps when plugged in - any suggestion?

When unit is plugged in all it does is beep intermittently - when we push the on button the lights and flame go on and off with the beeps. Any suggestions?
