ford focus radio not working right? its a 6000 unit with cd witch works ok?

why cant I get fm on my ford focus radio just lw and that's not to good was working be for I took the battery of have put the coad back in the cd is ok and the radio works on lw but very low so must be picking something up just no fm or mw any one know why was ok till I took the battery off
