Mend Monroe 46 Sweda Cash Register

How can i fix my model 46 monroe sweda cash register?

I bought a model 46 Monroe sweda cash register the other day, plugged it in, it made a lot of noise, then shut off in a few seconds, hasn't done anything since, seems locked up. Anybody have any suggestions?
