at 20 years old the boiler doesn't owe you anything. Maybe it is time to bite the bullet and get a new efficient condensing boiler.
You will need to give a lot more information. What model is the boiler? Is it one with a pilot light or electronic ignition? Is there a light or something to indicate that power is present?
