accenta 6 alarm system with smoke detector currently has a BRK 2812TH detector fitted but does not work removed the detector there are 4 wires any ideas would like it to work or how to wire another detector

Any alarm compatible smoke detector will work with the accenta. Two of the wires are 12v+/- and two are normally closed alarm contacts wired into a zone on the accenta. Have a look at http://www.diy-alarms.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=135
