Do not have code to alarm in home we just occupied?

I am trying to figure out what will need to be done to get my alarm up and running. We purchased a home in the last 2 years that has an alarm but the previous owners never gave us the code. Now due to some minor crime in the area we are wanting to use our system. I am not sure who to call to have this matter fixed.
