Hotpoint WD440 no heat in dry cycle?

Our Hotpoint WD440 has started to become a bit erratic. It is about a year old and for the last week it has not been completing its program cycle. It has either stopped and not dried or has just kept running without getting to the dry cycle.
Reading the posts here I am thinking it is either going to be the control board or the brushes. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

If this is the MKII it was built without a back flush. The lint builds up and overheats. £90 call out every time. I am going for them as the machine is not fir for purpose. MKI and MKIII have the back flush. All this from engineer who fully expects to keep coming back to repair the in built fault. The part is £5 so no wonder they can give a 5 yr parts guarantee at £90 call out. A total con.

sorry but under no circumstances do you check a live machine thats what continuity testers are for (engineer 14 years)

I fit were mine i would check where the terminals were to the dryer element -has a terminal worked loose/broken or a spade clip come off?

Check that there is 240V across these terminals when the programme is set to dry (there MAY be more than 2 terminals to provide a WARM cycle).

If the machine is providing the voltage to the terminals when it is not getting hot then remove the terminals (REMOVE THE PLUG FIRST!!!!!) and check the dryer element curcuit for continuity (has the element burnt out?).

MY guesses........... I'm no washer repair guy!

If you don't understand GET HELP. I don't want to give you ideas and you get electrocuted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
