alarm?

Hi there,,, I own a shut down pub and im having a few problems with little thieving sh..s braking in trying to steel the copper wiring from the floor boards anyway moving on to topic i have a Veritas r8 alarm installed ( looks as old as myself) and on the outside box it says " wasp alarms " if anyone has ever heard of them? anyway i have replaced the battery inside the control panel but it keeps going off all the time with certain zones illuminating on the panel and i live far away to keep checking on it when i get there most days the front and rear bell box are flashing but one of the thieves has ripped the gardtec speech dialer off the wall is till have it but i dont know how to wire it up any ideas? if i get it it all sorted and the speech dialer then that would be fantastic so i can keep it armed without going back

thanks

Ok I've read :)

Veritas R8..... The tex odyssey range these days have comfort LED's, although not backlit, they have alternating twin comfort LED's,that are considered to act as a visual deterrent.Cheap enough and easy to wire.

If you grant access to an intruder by omitting the basement/cellar areas, then the intruder will assume all other areas are not supervised too.

Basic criminal train of thought.

Secure all entry areas and put up lots of warning signs, maybe a couple of dummy CCTV cameras in key areas with CCTV in operation signage. The real thing (remote viewing) if you still have broadband.

The pyronix deltabell with backlights are another visual deterrent but it's not really one for the average DIYer,but a decent sounder all the same.

What control panel you using and is it running two sounder's at present?.

Well I have had metal sheets put on the windows today so Thats a start Its just the basement thats open which im not to fussed about because it isn't connected to the pub but the cellar is alarmed but I need to disable the sensors so if people go down there its not effecting the pub because theres nothing in there to take anyway other than empty barrells

Speech dialer all done (y) Lf fault has now gone tested it out now it works perfect just need to buy two visable bell box's for outside What do you guys think about the new pyronix bell box's?

No point really when the wiring/cables will be next to go.

Active fone line under these circumstances with the equipment you have got are totally useless.

Have a re think there's better options but it will cost you.

You misunderstood.

Steel is a metal, as is Copper.

Stealing is the issue you are having.

Fair enough, do as informed and the dialler will work.

Thanks What i meant was not having to go back every day to see if everythings fine I would like the dialer to call me when there is a problem

By the way how is copper theft a new one to you? Aint you guys electrician's? come on ! Let me give you a hint

Scroats - copper wiring - scrap it in - Spend it on drugs or whatever they do with the money they get

Your logic defeats me.
You will keep it armed and not go back??

You do have the installer codes for both units I assume.
Wiring is simple look on the unit for pos and a neg. Wire then to the power output of the alarm.
Then a trigger wire from the bell output of the alarm to the unit.
Finally the phone line.
All done, now program the unit as per the manual you can get from the Risco site.
Now identify the zones that keep going off and see what could be the cause, the intruders perhaps.
Also if they notice you dont come back what use is it?
And they will.
Steel copper, new one on me :D
