How to change bulbs in the dashboard of a vauxhall corsa 2000?

I asked my mechanic who said "It's not a 2 minute job. I think you probably have to take out the radio etc unit and see how to access the controls unit to get access to the bulbs."

I can't find information online or in the library. Nearest clue is tha maybe a thin screw-driver might just let me push in between the radio and the heater control part at left and right, in order to push in a couple of clips. Looks like a downward push as opposed to a straight in. I might give it a try. I assume pulling off the knobs will not give bulb access...life can't be that simple! (designers take note!)
