How do I reset the program for Hotpoint Aquarius FDL570G Dishwasher?

Hi. My Hotpoint Aquarius FDL570G Dishwasher was not doing anything. No console leds were showing apart from power light. I removed the top panel and noted that the (pathetic) plastic bits which are meant to serve as springs at back of on/off switch were cracked. The microswitch it controls appears to be stuck on 'on', which is a bit of luck!. I can live with this as we can switch off at mains plug. There was build up of 'soot' around the connector to relay from door open switch. I cleaned the contacts with some fine sandpaper and voila, we have power to the other lights on console.

My problem now is that the machine appears to be stuck in the middle of a program. There was some promising noises on originally restoring the connection. Is there a way to reset it? I though powering down would clear this but obviously it stores it's status somehow. I've lost the original manual. All suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.
