hi there.........the footrest and carriage top/bottom pads are safety edges not limit switches but when pressed in the lift will stop meaning the circuit is broken........the actual limit switches are on the underside of carriage and slow/stop the lift at each end of rail when they touch the white slow/stop ramps which you will see on underside of rail top/bottom these white ramps are adjustable and if out to far can cause a fault by breaking the mushroom head off the d2d switch or sticking in causing the lift to operate one way...hope this info will help,,let us know.............paul......portsmouth/uk
