i connected the two black wires going to the pto clutch?

t have a l120 john deere ,well one of the black wires kept coming off so i spliced them together i cut my lawn about four times ,on the 5th time i was have way done n the blades stop engaging .no sound coming out . so did i burn up my clutch can it be repaired ?any help at all i ll be most thankful
