Mend Sharp XE-A102 Cash Drawer

sharp xe-a102 cash register drawer wont always open?

it randomly chooses to open but mostly does not. I have pulled out the drawer, spring is in tact w/nothing behind it, lever seemed to be working, don't hear it engage when not working.
