Mend Worcester 28i rsf Temperature System

hot water only works when heating is on?

The hot water on my worcester 28i rsf only works when the heating is on.When you try do get hot water independently nothing happens.
Could this be the hot water sensor or would the hot water not work at all if this was the case and if not anyone any ideas
