hotpoint 1st edition washer dryer motor brushes sparking?

sparks from around the brushes are causing the plastic around the brushes to melt & then causing the brushes to stick in their guide.i

hi mike take old brushes out then give the part of the motor they run on a clean with fine sandpaper hold the paper on the motor and spin it round when nice and clean replace with new brushes should be ok
