I wonder why you would want to take the lid off your dishwasher - what do you expect to find under it?

My last two previous dishwashers were Bosch - I never noticed that either had a removable lid - perhaps yours does.

You might put in another question including the model of your machine and what's wrong with it that makes you want to take the lid off.
