Alarm info?

Hello my insurance will not accept my claim for a burglary on our new property even though the patio doors were forced and the alarm bypassed.

The insurance sent out a guy who took information from the alarm and now states that a valid passcode was used prior or during the burglary.how can this be so when only myself and the hubby know it?.

And what is the info in general he got from the alarm and how because ourselves would like to see it?

Thankyou

did you give permission for him to look at the log of your alarm system ??

all five panels use same sequence for displaying their logs IIRC,

Pop your user code in then press 5,

It should show you the latest event,

Press tick to toggle time and date of event if it doesn't display in full or:

Press 1 view earlier events

Press 3 for later events

Press 4 to display the first event

Take note that the panel can display 700 events so it makes sense to start with the most recent and work your way back through the log,

Press x to stop viewing the log when finished viewing.

I would also get an engineer out who can give you a print out of the log and most importantly change the systems engineering access and your user code :),

Ps sorry to hear about your situation but even if there's visible signs of forced entry still doesn't mean the raid wasn't staged.

Have you spoken to your solicitor yet?

It's up to your insurance company to prove without any unreasonable doubt that this is an act of fraud, sounds like they are using every method possible as a get out clause.

Get back to us if you can't get to read the log or if it displays something you don't understand.

Good luck Denise :)

Sorry we don't have the manual just the instructions written down from the previous owners.

I have looked on the metal box where the wires go into and it has no obvious markings etc,is there a button on the keypads that when pressed displays such info?.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Unfortunately Denise, 9941 is the manufacturers number for the Keypad (RKP) not the panel, I don't know the combination I'm afraid, 9941 RKP + **** Control panel.

Do you have any User Manuals, see if you can find the one that relates to the Control Panel & post the number, I or someone will tell you how to 'read' the Log.

The alarm is a 9941 scantronic and the insurance statement letter says it was disabled with a valid code on activation, so therefore was know, or given to another party by me us the occupants.

Time and date of event are also listed followed by the entry of the correct user code to silence the alarm, and showed no evidence of system tampering.

So in short britania are refusing my claim even though damage to the patio door is clear. One can clearly see it has been forced.

The letter reads in such a way as if i'am guilty of fraud!.

That brings me back to my original question on how can we view this so called information that is so called stored in my alarm?.

Thankyou

The make & model of your alarm panel would go a long way to answering your question.

Also how was 'the alarm bypassed'?

Everything would be pure speculation on our part without knowing the above.

Reply here & we'll see if we can help.
