how can i fix my russell hobbs model no. 18157 50Hz electric kettle?

i dont think its the actual kettle as the on light switch comes on still, i think its the base. one wire is yellow and bright green, one brown and one blue. the blue one seems to have a break in it where the copper wire pokes out. also, the trip switch went as the kettle was boiling. i am a woman and have never done anything like this before so please leave me very clear instructions and thankyou for your help.
