How can i fix the grill on a Select 610 Diplomat?

Diplomat Select 610 Model AHY 3520

The grill is not working. I replaced the element run up okay. A week later dead. The switches both light up when turned on and the fan kicks in momentarily until grill is selected. My partner now advise that she has never been able to reduce the temp (3+ years)on the grill it only ever worked on number 5!! Is there a stat on the back of the switch, could it be a straight forward switch relacement?
