How to replace xb083 in pulsacoil a class?

Hi,

I will be very grateful if you may advise me how to refill pulsacoil Aclass and how much inhibitor is needed as the leak is from the bottom immersion element. Request your help.

No, you CAN'T use a Wickes one! The reason the original is expensive is because it's a low wattage per inch model. This basically means that there is more surface area for the heat to be released - and hence it is quieter in operation. If you use an ordinary immersion heater then the actual element part is shorter and it is hence a high wattage per inch one. It will sing like a canary when it's heating! You don't want that during the off peak period (early hours of the morning)! toptrish, with all due respect, please stick to your field, whatever it is, as it isn't anything to do with water heating.

sorry my brain was set to the pulsacoil 2000,usually all elements have 1 terminal with screw for the neutral,1 terminal with a short wire to connect to the stat and an earth terminal.take stat out and put a connector from brown wire to the short wire, yes x100 inhibitor is ok.screwfix also do an imm htr product code 53389 £17.99

Thank you for your advice. Looking at the Wickes immersion Product Code: 159847 http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/159847/?source=123_75 and original part http://shop.segel.co.uk/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=220&zenid=jh0qsq491dllgcjqgsbioi1b63 they look the same however the one I need to replace only appears to have 3 wires (as expected), but no connection for a thermostat. That appears to be separate. Can I fit the wickes one and just not have a stat in the tube?

Wickes one also says factory set to 60 degrees, but can be varied to 70. Do you know how that's varied and if keeping the stat already installed would go past it's max to above 73 dregs you mentioned?

P.S the thermostat in your old imm heater might have to be used because water temp needs to be 73 degrees min

drain tank with drain cock below immersion heaters,You can use ordinary 11 inch immersion heater elements from wickes etc,use incalloy ones they are better.
Add inhibitor which is used for central heating when refilling.Be patient when refilling it,the top tank needs to be 1/3 full when done
