Mend Gainsborough 9.5 Deluxe Unit Front Hot

Gainsborough 9.5 Deluxe Shower Leaking?

My shower is leaking from the unit. I have taken the front of the unit off, and can see the water is leaking out of the section that controls the hot / cold temperature. I took the white dial (long round plastic bit, looks like a long screw) out to see if I could find out why and can't get it back in, and don't know how to resolve. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
