dishwasher will not start?

The first thing to happen is the entry of water - you can often hear it coming in to the machine.

For this to happen water must be available - the control electronics should have "called" the water inlet solenoid valve - and the valve should have opened.

This is a good place to start diagnosis in my opinion - the logic of the machine will require water before anything else - no water = no work - but I have no qualifications or experience - this is all conjecture.

If asked to guess I would go for the inlet valve first - but it's easier and cheaper to check the inlet water flow before spending time and money on spare parts.

Does water enter the machine Y/N
Is there water available Y/N
Do the electronics ask the inlet valve to open Y/N
Does the valve open Y/N
