drayton rf1 room thermostate is not switching on the boiler?

Hi all
I am new to this site but have found it very interesting.

My question is :-

I have a drayton rf1 room state and due to form it has stopped working in january,

the red alarm light is on permenantly indicating a fault.

The override button does work so i know its not the boiler

I have replaced the batterys in the sender and it reads the correct room temp ok.

I have tried performing a set configuration (matching the two) and this is where i feel my fault lies.

i have held both buttons as descibed in the instuctions and then the red light blinks and goes out, I release both buttons and only the red light comes back on

The instuctions say the red and green lights should come on!!!

does anyone know a fix for this or is it just a case of getting a new thermostste and reciver
