Repair of MC-2100 LTS 50W Motor Control Board?

All aspects execpt the roller work as normal. I am led to believe that the cause is a faulty Motor Control board (~$200) to replace.
Are there any checks or tests I can do to confirm this ? I am assuming that the upper console sends PWM signals to the MCB to increase the spead and therefore fault could lie elswhere.
