sometimes does not come on?

my combi boiler sometimes decides not to heat the hot water or heat the central heating,if you turn the hot tap off,and leave for a minute,and start again the water will heat,had someone to look at it,he fitted a simple devise ,app. £10 for the piece,but fault still accurs. whats next please? Brian
