how can i fix my USB memory stick to recover data?

how can i fix my USB memory stick, the computer does not detect it when i put it into the USB ports.

I think my USb is not working AT ALL DUE TO THE STATICS THAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSE IT TO FAIL. The light is no longer blinking, but i have data in it. How can i retrieve my data?

If the pen drive flashes its lamp it may be a broken USB connection, I have sucessfully broken open the plastic casing on the drive and resoldered the USB plug tag connections back to the PCB on the mem stick. (They break with rough use) If you need that data this may be worth a try before giving up.
