It depends on what password we are talking about: Windows, Hard Disk, or one of the two possible motherboard passwords.

In the case of the former if you take the laptop to a local computer shop with ID and proof of owenership they will be able to help you.

Hard disk passwords are not crackable and so the hard disk is scrap. (AS it was designed to be if stolen.)

There are two types of motherboard password, resettable and not. If the former the user manual will tell you how. If the latter (for example in the case of an IBM ThinkPad) the motherboard will need to be replaced.

Normaly, you don't give links to such tools as they can all to easily be used to unlock stolen laptops. You don't want to encourage peoples to get and use stolen property, or make it easy.

you will have to restart the computer, and use either a password-override cd to get around the block, or another option is to restart and use a windows operating system cd to install a fresh copy of windows. Whichever you decide, you need to boot from the cd at system startup by pressing either F2, F8 or F12 - these are usually the keys used; it is only one of these - and boot from cd.

If you want to reset the password ONLY, then try the following links where it will tell you what to do and what to download from the selection given.

Hope this helps!

Contact the seller and ask him the password.
If he can't give it to you, ask him to take the computer back and refund you. If he refuses, you can bring him to justice as he probably sold you a stolen computer.
