Mend Vauxhall Astra 1999 1.6 8v Overheating Cooling System Thermostat

Car overheating?

My Astra 1999 1.6 8v keeps overheating.
If I leave the top off the header tank it will idle all day without a problem but replace the cap and it boils up with a shed load of pressure.
Could a faulty thermostat do this

you could remove thermostat and test it in boiling water to see if it opens,if it does then it sounds like you may have head gasket issues
