juddering renault megane scenic?

driving along nicely then lose power and car judders and doesnt want to respond and fuel consumption seems to have like doubled toxic light stays on as well

is it mis firing?you could remove plugs and look for any that are wet and that could pinpoint the cylinder giving problems,try plugs,leads,coil packs and if no better then a compression test may be worth doing.If still no joy then a code reader will be needed.
