Mend Hotpoint WM52 Washing Machine Faulty

Hotpoint First Edition WM52 door sensor?

When I close my washing machine door quite often it doesn't register that it is closed & the start light doesn't come on & so the machine doesn't start! Took me about 30 attempts of opening & closing today! Sometimes the light will flash when you close it but is there a sensor or something that I can replace or could it be a seal?
