speedo?

Hi i was driving my 1996 ford fiesta today as normal, pulled up at a set of lights, pulled away and the speedo all of a sudden stopped working, it hasn't worked since!
Any idea's of what it could be, or how to fix it? I tried pulling over and turning the engine off an starting again.
