Hotpoint aquarius DWF 50. on/off button wires and delicate light flashing?

Hi. Dishwasher stops mid cycle and the delicate light is flashing. I read this could the connections to the dispenser so took off the front. BIG mistake! After cutting hands to shreads checking connections I realised that the connections on the on/off switch were off. As the wires are rediculously short I struggled to re-connect them to the switch. Fired her up and unfortunately it keeps tripping out so think I have them on wrong connections!
So please help
1) wiring guidance for on/off switch
2) Why is delicate light flashing and stopping cycle?
