my mums stannah 250 is stuck at the top of the stairs and will not move ?

my mums stannah 250 is stuck at the top of the stairs and wont move there is no noise at all its dead. have taken the fuse boxes to be checked and they fine. any help appreciated in laymens terms as i am a woman! thanks

Hi if stair lift is stuck at top landing & not coming down then there are following causes:
*Down side safety edges of carriage are stuck.
*Handwind the stair lift in down direction & test if stair lift is moving in up direction which will prove down side of carriage safety edges are faulty.
