Mend Hotpoint WML 540 Washing Machine Drain Clicking Noise

takes on water,but will not wash?

hotpoint aquarius,wml 540, whatever program i select...takes on water,but then will not wash clothes, light always on indicating that it needs to drain, will drain and spin clothes,.. also ther is a loud clicking noise when i select the drain or spin program as if it stuck eitha on or between programs????
