HOw can I fix my extreme challenge 1800 pressure washer?

After the winter my pressure washer would not start. I think it may be the trigger gun as the motor normally only starts when it is pressed. How can I check if electricity is getting to the washer so as to be sure it is the handle and not the whole motor. Any help or ideas would be appreciated before I scrap the pressure washer as they no longer replace the motor and not under guarantee
