I have beautiful wooden windows which refuse to stay open without support. Due to the fact that the windows are in such great shape I hate to replace unless necessary. It would be messy and distructive to remove windows from openings in order to replace window alum. glides. Any alternative ideas would be appreciated.

I can think of wood windows of all shapes & styles, I don't have a clue which you have, if you expect help you need to explain better. ( sliding sash, side hung, top hung ect. )
