How do I set the timer on my tricity bendix electric cooker?

I'm not sure what the model number is but there are a few numbers on the top: S1255.

It was working fine and then it got turned off at the switch and the main oven hasnt worked since. All other parts work.

The timer is showing 8:88 instead of 0:00. I have tried a number of combinations using the 2 buttons and the heat dial for the main oven but nothing works. The buttons don't seem to do anything.
