Mend Easilogic 1000rpm Wrong Going Water

what is wrong with my easilogic 1000rpm washing machine?

When my washing machine was going through its cycle and the water started to get very warm, smoke started to billow out of the lid above the wash powder drawer and it smelt like wiring burning. The washing machine still works but the water no longer heats up. What went wrong and which part do I need to replace?
