Mend Kenmore 116-53612300 Replace Belt Cleaner

How do I replace the belt in the floor cleaner?

I have a Kenmore Canister Vacuum Cleaner model # 116-53612300 and need to replace the belt. I took out the 2 screws but cannot open the powermate and do not know how to replace the belt that I have already purchased.

I need to know how to open the powermate and how to replace the belt.

From another post:

1. Remove the light bulb cover (just pulls off from pressing the sides in)
2. Remove the 2 long phillips screws in the center
3. Grab edge of the cosmetic cover from underneath and pull outward and upward to lift off of the black base. Now you can work on the brush roller and belt. If you have never changed the belt, the cover may be stubborn.
