Ford 6000 cd player won't let me enter code?

Hi my radio was disconnected from the battery,so now it is flashing for the code. I do have the code but am unable to enter it.
Directly underneath the code (on the screen) it has a number 3.
It isn't telling me it's locked and there is nothing flashing error.
Can you help please. Cheers
