Mend Ryobi SS30 Trimmer String Head

How do you remove a stubborn hex bolt on a Ryobi SS30 trimmer string head?

The string advances uncontrollably on a Ryobi SS30 weed eater. The owners manual says that an overtightened hex bolt that attaches the string head to the trimmer frame can damage the string head assembly. I can't loosen the hex bolt so that the string head assembly can be replaced.
