How can I open the canister on my Kenmore vacuum model 116.22512202?

How can I open the canister on my Kenmore vacuum model 116.22512202? I need to get to the wire rewinder mechanism and I can't figure out how to get the canister open. (The plug had to be replaced and was a bit smaller than original and slipped into hole. When trying to pull it out with pliers, wire got messed up on rewinder. Now I have to open it to fix that. Hopefully it won't go BOING! and get even worse...)

There are four screws holding the canister's cover on. Two are underneath the bag cover, near the hinges, and the other two are under the gray HEPA filter cover. With the cover off, you will be able to work on the motor and winder. If you need any more help, our email is arctic@worldlynx.net
