how to diagnose condition of cooling fan clutch?

you can get centre bearings from motor factors now which would save you a bit,your viscous fan should have no play when you work the fan side to side,sometimes they are noisy and when you rev the engine you normally see it slowing down a bit,some have left hand threads to remove but yours is a normal r/h
