I would see if I could find whether the leak was from a small crack in the rad or from a pipe above or below the rad. Small cracks can often be fixed with treatment such as Radweld or a similar solution that you pour into the water system and it blocks the crack from the inside, available from Halfords or other car spares stores, and come with instructions. If it's a split pipe, then either the pipe needs replacing, usually just a clip at either end, or if the split is at an end and there is enough excess pipe, you could disconnect that end, cut it back beyond the split and refit it! Job done.
