i was driveing my 2006 vauxhall vectra on the motor way. the battery light come on for about 45 miles. then i stop at traffic lights when all the dash lights come on and the steering was very hard. i turned the car off and then it wouldnt start. left it for 10 minutes then the car started drove it 1 mile and it done it again
Battery light, = alternator problem + steering problem, = belt problem.
Check the belt, Not sure about vauxhalls, but on mine, the alternator pully is known to fail at about 90K. total loss of power, and if same belt as for power steering, would loose that as well.
