Mend Vauxhall Vectra 2002 Car

vauxhall vecra 1.8 injection 2002?

my car is running but sounds poorley rac said it was my coil had a new one on but made no difference had it to a garage they tested everything appart from my ecu and they say its that what should i do cost me 85 for coil and 140 for them to tell me that.

Is the engine management light (eml) on while driving?
Does the eml perform its self test correctly (light up when ignition on, go out when engine starts)?
What are the symptoms, eg is it misfiring, low on power, not reving up correctly etc.?
Is the garage a Vauxhall dealer or an independent?
