d2731fw dishwasher pipe split?

hi the pipe that runs from corner to corner internally by the door has split and flooded the kitchen,what does this pipe actually do as just runs between two corners and is not connected to anything.is it needed or can i just bung up holes or is it some type of breather pipe.
